Fire chiefs in Derry have once again advised of the benefit of having a working smoke alarm installed after being attending an incident in the Waterside area of Derry last night.
Firefighters from Crescent Link fire station were called to deal with a blaze in the kitchen of a flat Duddy’s Court in the Waterside area shortly before 10.30pm.
A Fire Service spokesperson said: “The occupant of a flat was alerted to a grill pan catching fire when a smoke alarm actuated. The pan was extinguished on arrival of crews.”
