Foyle Valley’s Keith Shiels’ impressive form continued at the weekend with victory in the Eskra 10k.
The annual event in the Co Tyrone village attracted athletes from throughout the North but Shiels proved too good as he crossed the line to claim victory in 32.22 ahead of Annadale Striders Glenn Phair (33.03) and Stephen Prentice of Enniskillen Running Club (34.08).
Elsewhere at the weekend, Shiels club mate Scott Rankin ran superbly to clinch econd spot in the Malcolm Cup Cross Country held in Six Mile Water Park in Ballyclare.
The Foyle Valley athlete recorded a time of 21.06 to finish second behind Ballymena and Antrim Athletic Club’s Gareth Hill who posted a time of 21.01 in what was the fifth race of the Athletics NI Cross Country League 2013/14.
In the ladies’s race, Marina Campbell of City of Derry Spartans ran a time of 18.10 to finish third behind Eimear Mullan (Springwell Running Club) and Denise Toner (Clones AC).
