If it can be moved… tie it down! That’s the advice from weather forecasters as Derry braces itself for high winds.
The city is to be put on “Yellow Alert” from 5.00am tomorrow morning when winds gusting up to 80mph are forecast to hit the region.
Householders, especially those with outdoor Christmas illuminations, are being advised to tie down anything that can be moved or bring them indoors.
Looking ahead, it will be become breezy this afternoon with a maximum temperature of 13 °C ahead of clear spells and a few showers this evening and early tonight. Cloud thickening later with freshening southerly winds taking temperatures down to a 3 °C minimum.
Tomorrow morning will be cloudy with rain soon spreading from the west, some heavy and accompanied by strong to gale force southerly winds throughout the day with gusts expected to reach 80mph.
It will become clearer by evening with winds easing. Maximum temperature 10 °C.
