Derry City Council, in partnership with the Arts Council, will today outline its “legacy commitments” that will build on the success of Derry’s year as City of Culture.
Initiatives expected to be unveiled include Derry becoming a CIty of Music next year which will include a major outdoor summertime musical event.
The “legacy commitments” are also understood to include plans to make Derry a Maritime City in 2016.
Last month, Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín announced a Departent of Culture Arts and Leisure (DCAL) office was to be set up in the city to help a planned new company deliver the City of Culture legacy.
The minister revealed she had approved over £2m to get legacy projects “up and running.”
