Motorists have again been advised to drive with caution ahead of predicted difficult driving conditions.
Derry is on “yellow alert” for ice and snow which has already caused the closure of one road.
The A2 Windyhill Road in Limavady is closed in both directions between the Aghanloo Road junction and the Dunboe Road junction because of snow and a jack-knifed lorry.
Following last night’s stormy weather – which Derry escaped relatively unscathed – a cold westerly airstream will bring further wintry showers overnight into tomorrow morning..
As road temperatures fall, the Met Office has warned this could lead to an increased risk of icy stretches on higher ground.
In addition, these showers could lead to some accumulation of snow, mainly on ground above 200 metres where two – five centimetres may accumulate.
Some temporary slight falls are also possible at lower levels in heavier showers.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “Drivers should be aware of the possibility of difficult driving conditions and minor disruption to travel.”
