A Derry councillor has called for an “urgent upgrade” of street lighting in one of Derry’s oldest streets.
Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue said she had been contacted by a number of residents living in Ivy Terrace who had expressed the opinion that the street lights there were in need of an urgent overhaul and upgrade.
Cllr Logue said as a local councillor for the area she would all she could to get the situation rectified.
She added: “I have written to the Road Service in regards to this matter asking that they assess the area with the view of carrying out the necessary upgrade as soon as possible.
“Residents have concerns about the darkness of the street at night time, about security around their homes and for people walking in the area late at night. It’s also a very narrow street and there are safety concerns for motorists and pedestrians coming in and out of the street.”
