People who gorge themselves at Christmas take up to four months to lose the weight they put on, a new study has revealed.
The average person will put on 4lbs between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day — after consuming twice their recommended calorie intake.
And the bad news is that it can take until Easter to repair the damage.
A survey of 1,000 people by diet pill firm Forza Supplements found that it takes one-third of people four months to get back into pre-Crimbo shape.
Some 94 per cent of people admitted they take a break from normal eating habits to indulge themselves over the festive season.
One-fifth of respondents said they resume their normal diet on December 27, but 44 per cent said they let themselves go completely until New Year — and 32 per cent admitted pigging out for a whole month.
Half of those surveyed admitted eating twice their recommended calorie intake over the holiday — largely because of the increased alcohol intake.
And a third of those completely let themselves go on December 25 — consuming a staggering 8,530 calories.
Lee Smith of Forza Sup-plements said: “The key to limiting your weight gain is to do simple things like eat slowly and avoid over-filling.”
