Firefighters attended an incident in the Creggan area of Derry last night after a smoke alarm was activated.
The occupier of a house in Westway was alerted to a teapot overheating on a cooker when the alarm was triggered around 10.45pm.
A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters removed the teapot to the open and ensured the safety of the property.
The spokesperson said the incident once again highlighted the importance of having working smoke alarms installed in properties.
