A number of pension and benefit claimants who are due to receive their payments tomorrow may be paid one day late on 31 December due to the additional Northern Ireland Bank Holiday on 27 December last.
The affected benefits are Retirement Pension, Disability Living Allowance, Incapacity Benefit, Carers Allowance and Attendance Allowance.
A spokesperson for the Social Security Agency said: “Firstly, we apologise for any inconvenience caused to our claimants. We want to stress that no one will miss out on a payment as their benefit payment will credit their account on 31 December 2013 at the latest.
“This one day delay may affect some claimants whose benefit is paid into the Bank of Ireland and Ulster Bank. For claimants who bank with the Post Office, Danske Bank, First Trust/Allied Irish Bank or other UK Financial Institution, payments should credit as normal on 30 December 2013.
“The Agency is working with the banks to try and minimise any impacts for claimants.
“Any affected claimant whose account is not credited on 30 December 2013 and who requires an urgent payment should contact their local benefit paying office immediately.”
