The two men taken to hospital following Saturday’s head-on collision on the main Derry to Belfast road just outside Dungiven were aged 70 and 64, it has emerged.
Both men had to be cut free from a 4×4 and car by firefighters following the crash which occurred at around 4.30pm on Glenshane Road about two miles from Dungiven.
The pair were rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment. It is understood their injuries are not life-threatening.
Police closed the road in both directions between the Corick Road and Boviel Road junctions for around 20 hours to allow a full technical examination of the scene to take place.
