A Derry Diocesan Youth Community is to be established this year.
The group will consist six young people who will commit to living community life for one year.
The Community will be centre in the parish of St Eugene’s and will serve young people throughout the Derry Diocese.
They will involve themselves in parish projects, school projects and live a life committed to community, private prayer and service of others.
Believing that the young should become the first “apostles of the young,” a diocesan spokesperson said: “We ask you to support the development of the Youth Community through prayer intention during Advent.
“The Community will take its inspiration from Pope Benedict XVI who said in St Peter’s Square, “Do not be afraid of Christ! He takes nothing away, and he gives you everything. When we give ourselves to him, we receive a hundredfold in return. Yes, open, open wide the doors to Christ – and you will find true life. Amen.”
