A young Derry girl goes looking for love tonight when she appears on a popular prime time television dating show.
Gemma Elliott (22), from the Bishop Street area, will be hoping she will be asked out on a date by man of her dreams when “Take Me Out” returns for a new series at 8.50pm on UTV.
Gemma, an economics and finance student at Leeds University and former pupil of St Cecilia’s College, will be among 30 contestants hoping to be swept off their feet by one of four male contestants – Adam from Leeds, Ellison from Birmingham, Jason from Gwent and Sam from Brighton.
Over 40,000 hopefuls had applied to go on the show which is hosted by Paddy McGuinness.
Initially, the female contestants get to choose the “hunk” who will appear before them from the “love lift.”
However, the final decision who goes on the “dream date” lies with the male contestant.
The girls who are not chosen get to return the following week to do it all over again.
The series has been recorded and Gemma has been sworn to secrecy by the programme makers as to the outcome.
She said: “You will just have to watch on Saturday night and see!”
