Race 7, Day 4: The Derry “LondonDerry” Doire is in contention to win 180 mile Ocean Sprint and an additional two points.
The Derry entry is neck and neck with Switzerland and OneDLL for the battle for the extra two points which would be added to the maximum points gained earlier in leg when the it was first through the Scoring Gate in the 1,075 mile race to Brisbane.
The Derry clipper remains in first place with just four miles ahead of OneDLL in what Derry skipper Sean McCarter described as “perfect downwind conditions.”
And he expects a close finish to the race in Brisbane.
He added: “We are racing neck and neck with OneDLL and Switzerland in perfect downwind conditions. With the three of us virtually a mile or two apart the stress will be on for the final 30 hours or so. Roll on Brisbane!”
Meanwhile, the PSP Logistics has retired from Race 7 after being damaged when it “bounced” over two waves.
