More needs to be done to protect the homes from flooding of people living along the edge of the RIver Foyle in the Culmore Point area, a local councillor has said.
Sinn Fein Cllr Tony Hassan was speaking after high waves, whipped up by strong winds, flooded the Point Road on Friday last and partially flooded the Shore Road this morning.
Derry City Council had delivered sandbags to residents but Cllr Hassan said more needed to be done.
Cllr Tony Hassan, who visited the area, commended the emergency services who were “on site.”
He said a multi-agency approach was needed to protect the health and safety of residents.
He added: “More measures need to be put in place and I will be raising this issue at the meeting of the Environmental Services Committee on Thursday.”
