Work to demolish the temporary concert venue built at a cost of £4 million for Derry’s City of Culture celebrations is to begin on Monday next.
The decision to dismantle The Venue follows a failure to attract a private investor to run the facility.
And it has emerged Derry is to be the only site The Venue will have appeared as it is to split up with its structure and its equipment returned to various hire companies.
During 2013, The Venue hosted a number of major events including BBC Radio One’s hugely successful One Big Weekend, Status Quo, Elvis Costello, the Ulster Boxing Championship finals and the City of Culture’s finale concert.
