An attempt was made to hijack a bus in the Carnhill area of Derry last night, according to a local councillor.
Sinn Fein Cllr Tony Hassan has condemned those responsible who he said achieved nothing only in having Translink services withdrawn from the area.
Cllr Hassan said: “Anyone I have spoken to is at a loss as to the rationale behind the attempted hijacking of a Translink bus in Carnhill.
“This must have been a very shocking experience for the driver and any passengers on board at that time.
“And comes just two months after an incident in Ballymagroarty when a device was placed on a bus.”
Cllr Hassan said those behind the attempted hijacking “need to wise up.”
He concluded: “The people of the area do not want this sort of stuff happening. All that was achieved by this was the removal of bus services from the area on a cold winter’s night.”
