A man and a woman have been arrested following an armed robbery at a chemist in Derry earlier this evening.
According to police, a man and a woman armed with knives, entered the pharmacy in Great James Street shortly before 5.25pm and, after threatening staff, made off with a quantity of prescription drugs.
Shortly afterwards, a man (41) and a woman (40) were arrested by police in Westland Street in the Bogside area of the city.
A quantity of prescription drugs and knives were recovered.
A PSNI spokesperson said the couple were assisting police with their enquiries.
No one was injured in the incident although it is believed staff were left badly shaken by their ordeal.
