The Derry public is to get the chance to air their views on how social homes may be allocated in the future.
The Department for Social Development is holding a public presentation and discussion event in the city later this month when the views on how social homes may be allocated will be sought.
The event is one of three being held throughout the North which Housing Minister Nelson McCausland is urging members of the public to attend.
Mr McCausland said: “These events are a great opportunity for the public to hear about new independent recommendations and express their views on how social homes may be allocated in the future.
“The allocation of social homes is a very important issue and I would encourage as many people as possible to attend these events and join in the debate. The comments gathered during the consultation and at each of the events will be considered as I develop proposals for the future of social housing allocations.”
The Derry event, taking place at 10.00am on Wednesday 22 January in the City Hotel, will include presentations and discussion on the proposals from 10.30am – 12 noon, and drop-in from 12 noon to 2pm.

Following public comments on the independent recommendations, the Department will consider all feedback and publish a summary of the responses and its final proposals.
These proposals will be subject to full public consultation. It is expected that this will take place late in 2014.
