New Derry City manager Roddy Collins appears to have missed out in the race to bring Crystal Palace winger Kyle de Silva to Brandywell.
The 20-year-old is currently training with Northampton Town with a view to making a loan move to Sixfields until the end of the season.
de Silva had a spell at Barnet earlier this season and has made seven appearances in the Palace first team and had been linked with a move to Derry.
Palace Academy Director Gary Issott told the Croydon Advertiser: “Kyle has gone up to Northampton at the moment to see if it suits both parties.”
To date, Collins’ signings have included Danny Ventre, Enda Curran, Roddy Collins Junior and Ciaran Gallagher.
Those who have departed Brandywell include Eugene Ferry, Simon Madden, Patrick Kavanagh, Dermot McCaffrey, Stewart Greacen, Ruaidhri Higgins, Mark Griffin, Thomas Crawley, David McDaid, Michael Rafter, Eoghan Osbourne, Sean Houston, Dean Jarvis and Joe Coll.
Meanwhile, Collins’ first game in charge of Derry City will be against North West neighbours Limavady United on Tuesday 21 January next.
The away game is one of a number of pre-season friendlies confirmed by the Brandywell club.
The Showgrounds clash will be followed by away trips to Coleraine a week later with a short trip across the River Foyle to take on city neighbours Institute on 7 February.
Dates have to be confirmed for home friendlies against Glentoran and Glenavon.
