Derry girl Gemma Elliott returns to our TV screens tonight as her search for “Mr Right” continues.
The 22-year-old, from the Bishop Street area, will once again be among 30 girls hoping to go on a “dream date” in the prime time TV dating show “Take Me Out.”
The girls’ potential suitor appears and presents himself with a series of videos about his life and usually some embarrassing revelations from his nearest and dearest.
Meanwhile, each girl has a lit up podium and if they like what they see they keep their light on and if they don’t they turn it off – which coined the show’s famous catchphrase, “no likey, no lighty.”
However, the final decision is always left with the boy – who gets to choose who will accompany him on a romantic holiday.
Last week, it was definitely “no likely, no lightly” as far as Gemma was concerned.
The former St Cecilia’s student turned down the chance to go on a dream date with Adam from Leeds after hearing he was into motorbikes and had a drawer full of multi-coloured socks, including a bright yellow pair with large pink stars.
Second contestant, shaven headed Jason from Gwent in Wales, didn’t fare much better. He got the “heave ho” after revealing he was the father of two daughters.
Ellison, from Birmingham, “got dumped” after Gemma and the other 29 contestants, found out he once posed in only his boxer shorts.
Long-haired Sam Mitchell never got a look in, Gemma giving the Brighton contestant “the elbow” as soon as he finished his cart-wheel entrance from the “love lift.”
Tonight, Gemma will get to choose from another four suitors.
If last week is anything to go by, then Grant, a psychic single dad from Kent, doesn’t stand a chance.
That leaves Belfast bodybuilder Gavin, a bodybuilder from Belfast, Baffoe a train enthusiast from London and a children’s party planner, Fergus, from Henley.
But Gemma, an economics and finance student at Leeds University, knows there will be no need to panic as there will be another six episodes in the current series.
Tonight’s show will be screened on UTV at 8.30pm and will be hosted, as always, by Paddy McGuinness.
