Derry have recorded their second win in the N Power Dr McKenna Cup with a comfortable victory over Fermanagh at Owenbeg in a game which saw the visitors record only a single point in the second half.
Playing with a strong breeze, Fermanagh struck first with a point before Aaron Keegan netted to put Derry in front on a scoreline of 1-3 to 0-1 after just three minutes.
However, the Derry lead lasted only five minutes as a Seamus Quigley goal on eight minutes put Fermanagh back in the lead.
After the visitors extended their lead with a point, two points from Aaron Kerrigan levelled the sides before Sean Quigley put the Erne back in front on 24 minutes with another goal.
Points from Emmett McGuckin and Kevin Johnston reduced the deficit to a point before Fermanagh replied to go in at half time leading on a scoreline of 1-04 to 2-03.
A Fermanagh point early in the second half was to be the visitors’ final score of the game as Derry went on to register seven points without reply to run out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 1-11 to 2-04.
