A new bus service to the Culmore area of Derry agreed with Translink should be introduced “as a matter of urgency,” a local councillor has said.
SDLP Cllr Angela Dobbins has welcomed the new service which, she said, would have “no adverse” effect on the current Lough Swilly bus service.
Cllr Dobbins said: “Reassurances were given to Derry City Council that the new service would have no adverse effect on the existing Lough Awill bus service.
“The new FY16 service will be a welcomed complement to the existing Lough Swilly service.
“The population within Culmore has greatly increased over the last decade but community facilities and public transport are not in keeping with this fact.”
Cllr Dobbins concluded: “Although a start date has not been decided, I urge that this service be introduce as a matter of urgency.”
