A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the armed robberies at two betting shops in Derry last night.
In the first raid which occurred shortly after 6:00pm, it was reported a man entered a bookies office on Strand Road armed with a suspected firearm.
It is believed a member of staff was ordered to hand over a quantity of money during the incident.
The raider is believed to have made off in a black car which was later found in the Bishop Street area
In the second incident which occurred shortly after 6:30pm, it was reported a male entered betting office ie Foyle Street armed with a suspected firearm.
A member of staff inside the premises was ordered to hand over a quantity of money during the incident.
No one was believed to have been injured during either incident although staff are believed to have been left badly shaken.
A PSNI spokesperson said a 34 year old male believed to have been involved in both incidents was arrested and is currently helping police with their enquiries.
The police spokesperson said enquiries were continuing and anyone who had information about the incidents was asked to contact CID in Strand Road Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
