A mother who failed to send her daughter to school has been fined £1,000 at Derry Magistrates Court.
The woman, from the Waterside area of the city and who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with failing to send her daughter to college on 27.5 days between 18 February and 18 September contrary to Article 45 and Schedule 13 of the Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 1986.
The woman, who failed to appear in court, was fined £1,000 in her absence by Resident Magistrate Barney McElholm.
The case was brought by the Western Education and Library Board.
