Newbuildings is to get a new £275,000 3G synthetic pitch (MUGA).

Details of the development were announced by the Mayor of Derry, Cllr Martin Reilly, following the appointment of FP McCann (TD O’Kane) contractors to deliver the state of the art facility.
The investment is being provided by DARD supported by the City Council’s Parks Development Programme for 2013/14.
Mayor Reilly said the project was “great news” for the Newbuildings area and would bring much needed facilities to the local community.
Gordon Moore, chairperson of Newbuildings Community and Environmental Association also welcomed the investment saying it was a huge boost to the local area.
He said: “We are delighted to have the development of a new all-weather games and training pitch at the centre.
“On completion, it will prove to be an excellent addition to the centre’s facilities. It will provide opportunities for all age groups to learn team working improve technique and skill, encourage a professional attitude and a respect for each other as well for the sport.”
