A Derry art gallery has made an ambitious move to takeover the Waterside building vacated by the Turner Prize exhibition.
Ilex, the regeneration company with responsibility for the Ebrington building, intend to convert the former British army barracks into offices.
The controversial plan has created anger with many involved in the arts and cultural scene in the city.
Several hundred people attended a rally outside the facility on the day the Turner Prize exhibition closed earlier this month.
Now, it has emerged the Void Gallery is hoping to take over the vacant building.
At a meeting held to drum up support for their campaign to retain the building as a gallery space, it was revealed Void has a vested interested in the building and had lodged a “letter of interest” with Ilex to take over its running.
