The Diocese of Derry has announced clerical changes to take effect from this Friday 24 January.
The changes see Fr John McDevitt, the curate at Drumragh in Omagh, become parish priest at Our Lady of Lourdes in Steelstown from where current parish priest Fr John Cargan will leave to take up a similar post in Kilrea.
The new appointments, announced by Diocesan Administror Fr Francis Bradley, are:
:: Very Rev. John Cargan, PP Our Lady of Lourdes, Steelstown (Derry), to be PP Kilrea and Desertoghill (Kilrea).
:: Rev. John McDevitt, CC Drumragh (Omagh), to be PP Our Lady of Lourdes, Steelstown (Derry) and Diocesan Director of Formation.
:: Rev. Joseph Gormley, CC Cappagh (Killyclogher, Omagh), to be Adm pro tem Holy Family, Ballymagroarty (Derry).
:: Rev. Thomas Canning, CC Drumachose, Tamlaght Finlagan and part of Aghanloo (Limavady), to be CC The Three Patrons (Derry).
:: Rev. Dermot McGirr, CC The Three Patrons, to be CC Drumragh (Omagh).
:: Rev. Brendan Doherty, Adm Kilrea and Desertoghill (Kilrea), to retire.
:: Rev. James Devine, newly ordained, to be CC Drumachose, Tamlaght Finlagan and part of Aghanloo (Limavady).
