Smurfing Flame proved too hot for the opposition in the New Year 500 Final run at Brandywell Stadium in Derry last night.
Owned and trained Eunan McBride dog won by a short head in a time of 28.96 seconds from second-placed Fernisky Coal, owned and trained by Alex Miskelly.
In the night’s other final, the New Year Sprint, the Liam Lyness owned and trained Aura Sugar won in a time of 17.28 seconds, 1.5 lengths ahead of runner-up Farley Rumble, owned and trained Mrs Marie Roberts
