The Samaritans will hold the first of two information sessions this evening for anyone considering becoming a volunteer.
The events are being held after the Derry branch of the Samaritans responded to 27,000 calls for support last year.
The Derry branch currently has 116 volunteers but are always seeking to recruit more people to ensure they can continue to offer the best possible service.
The Samaritans offer 27/7 emotional support to anyone considering taking their own life, feeling down, depressed, anxious or struggling to cope.
Confidential service is offered by telephone, email, text, letter or face-to-face.
Tonight’s information evening will take place at the office of the local Samaritans at 16 Clarendon Street at 7.00pm.
A second session will take place at the same time and venue tomorrow evening.
