James McIntyre set the Colts on their way at a wet and windy Riverside Stadium as early as the third minute.

The Boys’ drew level through Andrew Doran six minutes later before Jordan Armstrong put the home side back in front on 22 minutes.

Armstrong doubled his tally 13 minutes later before “man of the match” Con Deeney added a fourth before half-time.

The second half was only three minutes old when Deeney again found the back of the net, ending any hope the visitors had of a come back.

Institute took total control and things went from bad to worse for the Boys when they had Aaron McDonald sent off and Institute were awarded a penalty that was converted by Aaron Porter (54 minutes).

Further goals from Tom Carlin (56 minutes), Jordan Armstrong (58 and 81), Jamie McIntyre (72), Con Deeny (76 and 89 minutes) and Jack Higgins (82) completed the rout.

Meanwhile, Institute’s North West neighbours Limavady United Youth went out at the quarter-final stage, losing 1-2 at home to Crusaders Colts.
