It was a case of “so near yet so far” for Derry girl Gemma Elliott who is set to bounce back after being turned down for a “dream date” on the TV dating show Take Me Out.

Gemma Elliott.

Up until last night, the 22-year-old had turned the chance to go on holiday to the island of Fernandos (Cyprus) with 12 male suitors in the previous three shows.

However, she failed to impress surfer and Matt Damon “body double” Lew from Penzance in the South of England who became the first suitor to turn the former St Cecilia’s light out in the series.

As for last night’s other suitors, Gemma turned her light off on Oscar from Watford after he revealed he liked to “go out and grab life by the b…s.”

Carpenter Adam from Bedfordshire suffered the safe fate after it was revealed to he liked to wear women’s perfume.

Gemma told final suitor, Danny from Manchester, that he reminded her of Danny from the hit musical “Grease,” telling him “You better shape up because I need a man!”

Gemma was further impressed when it was revealed he was a member of a Take That tribute band, the Derry girl telling him “Never mind Take That, take this to Fernandos.”

However, he was not in tune with Gemma when she heard him sing.

Gemma returns next Saturday night when she will get to choose from Jay from Manchester, Frankie from Surrey, Paul from Glasgow and Ashley from Bongor Regis.
