AN investigation has been launched after an Irish Army soldier based in Co Donegal was allegedly threatened by dissident terror bosses in Derry.
Gardaí have been informed of the incident which involves a serving member of the Defence Forces based at Finner Camp.
Sources say the threats are being taken “very seriously” and the Irish Army soldier has stepped up his personal security as a result.
He lives at the camp.
Sources say the threat has been traced to dissident group in Derry.
Garda detectives have visited Finner Camp, outside Ballyshannon, to give the soldier security advice.
It’s understood they have also liaised with the PSNI on the nature of the threat and are investigating the possible circumstances behind it.
