There has been another robbery in which staff have been threatened with pepper spray.
A man armed with a knife and pepper spray is believed to have got away with a small sum of money after holding up staff at a fast food takeaway in Strabane at around 8.00pm last night.
Last night’s robbery came only four days after member of staff was was hospitalised for injuries sustained when sprayed by a masked man who held up adjacent businesses in Beechmount Avenue in the town.
The masked man, believed to be in his teens and wearing gloves and a hoodie, first robbed staff at the convenience shop and post office at around 5.30pm on Saturday, before entering the adjoining pharmacy.
A pharmacist who was sprayed in the neck and face by the robber during the incident had to receive hospital treatment.
It is understood no one was injured in last night’s robbery which has been condemned by local SDLP election candidate Patrick Leonard.
Mr Leonard said: “This behaviour is not acceptable within our community of Strabane coming just days after two other local businesses were targeted.
“Actions like this jeopardise those employed by these people and also these attacks put their lives at risk.
“This is a very terrifying ordeal for any member of staff or the public to endure.”
Mr Leonard concluded: “I condemn this attack and would like anybody with any information in relation to these incidents to please contact the police.”
