Eoghan Rua’s dreams of a third AIB All-Ireland senior club camogie final in four years were ended by Milford from Cork in today’s semi-final clash in Ashbourne in Co Meath, the Derry champions losing out on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-8.
The Coleraine side will be “kicking themselves” as they had a host chances throughout the game to register scores, especially late on when the normally reliant duo of Grace McMullan and Katie Mullan failed to take the goal opportunities that came their way.
The Derry champions were always playing catch-up after going behind 1-2 to no score early on and trailed at half time on a scoreline of 1-5 to 0-4, all the Eoghan Rua’s points coming from Grainne McGoldrick.
McGoldrick added another three scores in the second half with Mullan adding the other point for the Derry side.
Having restricted the Munster champions to five points in the second period, Eoghan Rua manager Joe Passmore will be thinking how different things might have been had those two late goal chances had been converted.
Milford go on to play Ardrahan in the final, after the Galway champions produced a brilliant second-half performance to beat Mullinavat 2-8 to 0-8 at Moneygall.
