The first Confirmation ceremonies in the city will take place this weekend.
The Derry Diocese Confirmations began last week in the parishes of Killygordon and Lifford and from now until Sunday 4 May, 57 ceremonies will be held throughout the diocese.
This Saturday, 167 primary seven pupils from the schools in the St Eugene’s parish will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in St Eugene’s Cathedral.
Children from St Eugene’s Primary School and Rosemount Primary School will be Confirmed by Bishop Franics Lagan at 11.30am.
Bishop Lagan will Confirm children from St Anne’s Primary School and Model Primary School at 3.00pm.
Also on Saturday, Diocesan Administrator Fr Francis Bradley will celebrate Confirmation ceremonies in St Patrick’s Church, Pennyburn at 11.00am and St Brigid’s Church, Carnhill at 3.00pm.
The final ceremonies of the year will take place in the parishes of Termonamongan and Magilligan on Sunday 4 May.
