Acclaimed writer and director Martin McDonagh – often described as “the Tarantino of the stage” – is bringing his hit play “A Skull In Connemara” to Derry next month.
Its staging for three nights only at the Millennium Forum from Monday to Wednesday 3-5 March is part of an extensive national tour.
Award-winning McDonagh’s talents have led to him having four plays running in London’s West End simultaneously as well as having huge hits on the big screen with “In Bruges” and “Seven Psychopaths.”
“A Skull In Connemara” showcases his flair for writing black comedy and remains a firm favourite with audiences in Ireland.
The cast are not short on talent either with performances from Garrett Keogh who has previously appeared in “Juno and the Paycock” and Maria McDermottroe who is recognisable from roles in “The Boxer” and ‘Veronica Guerin.”
His big screen successes include an Acadmey Award for Best Live Action Short Film for “Six Shooter” andBafta award for best original screenplay for In Bruses
“A Skull In Connemara” is the story of Mick Dowd, who for one week each autumn is hired to disinter the bones in certain sections of the local cemetery, making way for new arrivals.
As the time approaches for him to dig up the bones of his dead wife, strange rumours regarding his involvement in her sudden death seven years earlier begin to resurface.
