Two Derry brothers are facing lengthy jail sentences after being convicted of catalogue sex abuse offences against their daughter/niece and son/nephew in the 1990s.
The children’s father was found guilty of 31 sex abuse offences which included six counts of rape against his daughter.
The father’s brother, the youngsters’ uncle, was convicted of seven charges of abusing the girl. Three of the charges were rape.
Neither can be named to protect the identity of their victims.
The woman had told the jury she was sexually abused during drink-fuelled poker games at her father’s home.
A family friend has been acquitted on all charges against him.
The brothers were remanded in custody to be sentenced on 6 March next when they face the possibility of being jailed for life.
Judge Gordon Kerr QC told members of the jury at Derry Crown Court, sitting in Coleraine, that given the length and graphic nature of the evidence they would, if they wished, not have to serve on a jury again.
