The people of Derry have been called on to celebrate the “wonderful work” carried out by local libraries and librarians tomorrow – National Libraries Day.
The call has come from Foyle SDLP MP Durkan said libraries of all kinds – including school, college, university, workplace and public libraries – were an “essential part of our local communities” and played a “pivotal role” in providing access to learning for thousands of people.
He added: “I would like to pay tribute to the professional expertise and skills of library staff who work so hard to promote learning, literacy and the enjoyment of reading to all.
He concluded: “I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage as many people as possible – both young and old – to visit their local library and find out about the great services they have on offer.”
