The former Brandywell favourite is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumour.
Earlier today, hundreds of people turned out to pay tribute to the Greencastle native at a 5k run held in Killea in his honour.
The fundraising initiative was organised by Finn Harps captain and former team-mate Kevin McHugh.
An emotional Farren admitted he was struggling to face up to his battle against cancer but said today’s event had spurred him on.
Among those who turned up was former Derry City and current Dundalk FC boss Stephen Kenny as well as former Finn Harps veteran Paul Hegarty.
A number of former Derry City players also turned out to show their support.
Meanwhile, all the proceeds from Derry City’s pre-season friendly at Brandywell this Tuesday night will be donated to the fund.
