There will be no flights to the holiday island of Lanzarote out of City of Derry Airport this summer due travel firm Falcon Holidays’ decision to cancel flights from Eglinton to the Canary Island.
The holiday firm has informed local travel agents the cancellation was due to a “commercial decision.”
The Lanzarote flights – which were due to operate once a week from the start of May to the end of September – were introduced to the Derry airport last summer with Falcon cancelled flights to Salou.
It is understood holidaymakers who had flights booked will be offered full refunds or the chance to fly to their same accommodation out of Belfast.
A spokesperson for Derry City Council, owners of the airport, said discussions were “ongoing” between the airport and Falcon Holidays “in relation to this matter,”
