A 47-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being attacked in the Bogside area of Derry last night.
The victim, a father of four, sustained facial injuries in the incident in which it is believed a hammer was used.
The man was rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
It is understood a man has been arrested by police investigating the incident which occurred in Cable Street at around 8.00pm.
