Staff at Derry’s Millennium Forum celebrating after winning a top award at the Allianz Arts and Business Awards.
The city’s premier arts venue bagged the highly coveted “Northern Ireland Arts Award” beating off stiff competition from other arts organisations such as the Grand Opera House, the Alley Theatre, the Lyric Theatre, the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival and the Belfast Festival at Queens to scoop prestigious accolade at an awards ceremony held that were held in the Ulster Hall, Belfast.
The award recognises the Forum’s commitment to developing and nurturing strong partnerships with local businesses through innovative projects and collaborations with the Richmond Centre, Foyleside Shopping Centre, Dunnes Stores, Danske Bank, City Cabs and many other local organisations.
The award was accompanied by a prize of £3,000.
Martin Bradley, chairperson of the Derry Theatre Trust, said winning the award was a “fantastic achievement.”
Mr Bradley, who accepted the award on behalf of the Forum, added: “Winning the overall Arts Award is testament to the Sponsorship and Development Officer and the Education Officer who have worked tirelessly to identify creative projects that have been beneficial to the various organisations, as well as positioning the Millennium Forum as a centre of creative excellence.”
He concluded: “It demonstrates the amazing results that can be achieved in bringing creativity into the business sector through innovative collaborations.”
Cara McCartney, Sponsorship and Development Officer, said: “While all corporate partnerships are varied in nature and come with different goals for the organisations – across employee engagement, branding and corporate social responsibility – the Millennium Forum approaches each with the same amount of vigour and passion.
“With each and every partnership, we strive to ensure that the maximum results are achieved.”
The Forum was also highly commended for the Community Engagement Award in recognition of its partnership with the Richmond Centre for its hugely successful “Creative Explosions” held last year.
