Derry midfielder Fergal Doherty has been named the GAA.ie Player of the Week.
The Bellaghy midfielder picks up the award following Derry’s excellent win over Kerry in the Allianz National League Division One game in Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney on Sunday last.
The Player of the Week award is decided on votes cast by followers of @officialgaa on Twitter and on the Official GAA Facebook page.
Doherty received 549 votes (49%), 110 more than runner-up, Tyrone’s Darren McCurry (39%). Cork’s John O’Rourke was third with 139 votes (12%).
Earlier this week, Doherty’s performance against Kerry saw him named in hoganstand.com “Team of the Week” along with his Derry team mate Sean Leo McGoldrick of Eoghan Rua.
