A Derry couple have handed over the proceeds of fundraising held in aid of the Neonatal and Children’s Unit at Altnagelvin Hospital.
It followed the birth of Cara McGillion, who was born ten weeks premature in the Neonatal Unit, weighing just 3 lbs and 2 ozs.
As a “thank-you” to the unit and the Children’s Unit at the hospital, where Cara also spent some time, doting parents Clare and Gary raised £1,080 through a fundraiser held Mailey’s Bar in the Brandywell while Stephen Smyth ran the Derry half marathon.
Pictured accepting the cheques from baby Cara, Cara’s mother Claire and her sister, Sarah, are Nuala Colton, neonatal lead nurse; Olivia Adair, neonatal auxiliary nurse; Martina Grant, neonatal staff nurse; Cathy O’Grady, play specialist; and Denise Lynch, Children’s Ward staff nurse.
