A solicitor representing the man accused of the murder of Barry McCrory in Derry last year has hit out at the delay in vital reports in the case.
Solicitor Kevin Casey was speaking at Derry Magistrates Court after being told forensic and post mortem reports were not available in the case against Kieran McLaughlin, the man accused of murdering Mr McCrory.
Mr McCrory was shot dead in an upstairs flat in Shipquay Street in Derry city centre on 10 October.
McLaughlin, from Elaghmore Park in the Galliagh area of Derry, is also accused of maliciously wounding a man in Creggan two days earlier.
Speaking during a remand hearing in the case, at which McLaughlin appeared via video link from Magheraberry Prison, a prosecuting solicitor told the court all files had been received in the case except for the forensic and post mortem reports.
Mr Casey said he was “at a loss to understand” as to why such reports were not available given the length of time that had elapsed in the case.
McLaughlin was remanded in custody to appear again on March 13.
