Gardai say they are attending a “serious incident” on the main Derry to Buncrana road.
Local gardai or the Garda Press Office are declining to give any details only to say that a “serious incident” is ongoing in Burnfoot.
Gardaí have sealed off the scene following the discovery of what is believed to be suspicious device close to the Gala Filling Station in the village.
“It’s not clear if this is a viable device or not, but Gardai are not taking any chances,” said one source.
Traffic is said to be moving freely through the village.
