A television documentary to be screened tonight will shed new light on the discovery of one of Europe’s largest illegal dumps – found just outside Derry.
Tonight’s edition of Spotlight, to be broadcast on BBC One at 10.35pm, features an investigation that stretched to eastern Europe and leads reporter Alys Harte to ask how dump – containing half a million ton of waste – ended up at Gorticross in the scenic countryside outside Derry.
The size of the dump can be put in perspective when considered the waste weighed more more than six Titanics and enough to fill several hundred Olympic-sized swimming pools.
