Next month’s St. Patrick’s Day Spring Carnival in Derry has the potential to be the “biggest and best ever,” a local councillor has said.
Sinn Fein Cllr. McGinley said this year’s festivities, as outlined at Derry City Council’s Development Committee, offered a wide range of programmes to cater for all ages and tastes.
Included is a family Treasure Trail leading through the city and across the Peace Bridge which will allow children to access myths, magic and mystery as they work out the clues towards the final destination.
Central also to the programme will be the establishment of the Trad Trail across the city providing musical entertainment over the weekend and creating an atmosphere which will encourage local people and visitors alike to dwell in the city centre.
The carnival parade which will benefit from the significant investment made by Council towards the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations as well as the LegenDerry food festival in Guildhall Square.
The forthcoming carnival is there to be enjoyed and I would encourage everyone to start making plans to ensure they do not miss out on one of the highlights of the year.”
