The proposed radiotherapy unit for Altnagelvin Hospital will be one of the key issues discussed when the Dublin Government’s Oireachtas Committee on the Good Friday Agreement meets in Derry.
The meeting with the North West cross-border group and local community groups is one of two being held in the North West – the other will be in Letterkenny – at which cross-border health care will be one of the topics on the agenda.
Donegal North East Deputy Joe McHugh, chairperson of the committee, said there was huge potential for more cross-border co-operation.
He revealed the group would be getting an update an update on the advancement of €19 million Irish investment into the radiotherapy services at Altnagelvin and how that was going to benefit over 500,000 people in the whole North West region and who it was going to benefit people on both sides of the border.
