Rosemount District Welfare Advice (RDWA) has become the first generalist advice centre in the North to be recognised as a legal aid centre by the Law Society NI and Northern Ireland Legal Services Commission.
Lisa Marie McDaid, acting advice manager, said the recognition would allow the Rosemount centre to help its clients with “more complex” legal issues.
The centre is also enhancing it services to include more accessible evening hours for those who need help outside of normal working hours.
Ms McDaid said: “We are now offering an enhanced service to cater for those who cannot seek advice during normal working hours due to employment/education commitments.”
She added: “The enhanced service runs on a Monday and a Thursday from 6.00 – 900pm to give advice on a wide range of issues including tax credits and issues for workers.
